Vol. 68 No. 71 (2026): Edição extra - Parte I
Knowledge, Awareness, and Humanity
AMG presents this special edition of its Scientific Journal, dedicated to the papers presented at the 38th edition of the Scientific Meeting of Medical Students (ECAM), organized by students from the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Goiás.
In 2026, ECAM chose “Cutting-Edge Medicine: Innovation, Ethics, and Care” as its theme. The choice could not have been more relevant. The speed at which new technologies and discoveries reach medical practice expands possibilities, but also requires discernment. Incorporating what is new is only one part of the challenge. It is necessary to understand its limitations, assess its effects, and decide how to use it without losing sight of what sustains Medicine: responsibility toward life and people.
It is from this perspective that the scientific papers gathered in this edition take on special relevance. They represent a significant part of the academic production presented at the meeting. By being published, these studies reach other readers, broaden the debate, and become part of the record of the scientific education of a new generation of physicians.
As one of the sponsors of ECAM 2026, AMG reaffirms its commitment to medical education and to the advancement of science. Supporting an initiative such as this means recognizing that the development of Medicine also depends on creating conditions for future professionals to conduct research, question, and share knowledge.
AMG congratulates the students, professors, researchers, and other professionals who contributed to the organization of ECAM 2026 and to the production of the papers published in this edition.
Truly cutting-edge Medicine is not merely Medicine that keeps pace with the future. It is Medicine that prepares to build it with knowledge, awareness, and humanity.
