Atividade física e imunidade na pandemia de covid-19
risco ou proteção para as crianças?

O exercício regular é um dos pilares da vida saudável para todas as faixas etárias: melhora a saúde cardiovascular, pressão sanguínea, controla o peso corporal e propicia um sistema imunológico saudável. Nos últimos meses o mundo tem observado duas pandemias, a da COVID-19 e a da diminuição considerável da prática de atividades físicas e aumento dos comportamentos sedentários. As crianças vivem um cenário de inatividade física cada vez maior dado a rotina limitada apenas ao ambiente doméstico. Há demonstrações claras que evidenciam a ligação entre a prática de atividade física e a melhora do desempenho escolar em crianças, além de ser determinante para o crescimento intelectual, é, claramente, fundamental para o desenvolvimento físico. A prática de atividades físicas reduz significativamente o risco de infecções virais, os níveis de ansiedade e minimiza comorbidades atreladas à Covid-19, como diabetes e hipertensão. Os impactos do sedentarismo na vida da criança e adolescente e os benefícios da prática de atividade física mostram que é de interesse médico incentivar e orientar a melhor maneira para a prática de atividade física por crianças e adolescentes durante o período de isolamento social imposto pela pandemia do coronavírus.
