Current requirements for the regulation and operation of assisted reproduction in Brazil, European Union and United States centres

Objective: to describe the current requirements for the regulation and operation of assisted reproduction in Brazil, European Union and United States centres. Method: descriptive study. Research carried out by means of searching for information on the regulations, standards and laws of the medical advice, surveillance, ministries of health and justice, beyong the Governments of each country, between January and July 2016. Results and conclusion: there is no standardization between regulations, although some aspects are similar among countries regarding the authorization for operation, inspection and procedure rules; team work; handling specimens in clean room; collecting room; IVF lab; samples storage; records and traceability; laboratory tests required and quality of service. In Brazil, there is a judicious regulation that addresses very specific structural aspects. The European Union noted that the current policy is very wide, allowing theirmember, determine your own legislation and your criteria for the proper functioning of assisted reproduction centres. In the United States, despite various organs predict standards, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine is who defines, simplify and standardize, the guidelines that each centre should follow.
