To report a case of successful treatment with shockwave therapy (OCD) in a patient with a chronic wound and discuss the therapeutic applicability of this method in soft tissue ulcers of different etiologies. A 101-year-old patient presented with a chronic ulcer caused by venous insufficiency and erysipelas, refractory to conventional treatment. After the application of OCD as an adjuvant treatment, it evolved positively, with complete healing of the wound and without unwanted effects. The case, therefore, indicates therapeutic benefit for the use of OCD. The case presented is part of the recent discussion on the benefits of OCD in the treatment of chronic wounds. Its results and analysis of the literature point to the importance and interest of its clinical and research use, in order to benefit patients and improve the degree of evidence of research on the subject.
