Abstract

The erector spinae plane block (ESP Block) is an ultrasound-guided fascial plane block between the erector spinae muscle and the transverse process vertebrae. The anesthetic and analgesic action in back, thorax and abdomen surgeries reach both the dorsal and ventral branches of the spinal nerves and has been described as an advance in regional anesthesia due to its easy execution and low incidence of serious complications. The objective of this article is to report the clinical case of a patient using anticoagulants after acute myocardial infarction (AMI), associated with an unstable chest condition with pain refractory to conservative clinical treatment, where it was decided to perform the ESP Block with the passage of a catheter to maintain the analgesia.
