Effectiveness of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of hepatic steatosis

Hepatic steatosis (HS) is characterized by accumulation of fat in the liver, mainly triglycerides, reaching 50-10% of the total weight of the organ. Among the several most common causes are alcohol abuse and obesity associated with metabolic syndrome. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasound in the diagnosis of fatty liver by analyzing 16 patients with this diagnosis confirmed, 03 of these (18.8%) men and 13 (81.2%) women, aged between 31 and 61. Cases, 87.5% were positive hepatic steatosis to ultrasound examination and confirmed with a biopsy, even though in different degrees.
