Pelvic ultrasonography in infancy

OBJECTIVE: Analyze the prevalence of pathologic findins on pelvic ultrasound in childhood and the most common pathologic
findings of pelvic ultrasound in childhood.
METHODOLOGY: Field study with archival research physician review literature about the topic, focusing on early puberty and
ovarian tumor. We analyzed the clinical reports filed sonographic imaging of whom were selected for the necessary grounds for
the search. A literature review was conducted based on scientific publications extracted from specialized databases.
RESULTS: Of 201 female children evaluated, 57 of them had positive for precocious puberty and 3 for ovarian tumor.
CONCLUSION: The prevalence of pathologic findings on pelvic ultrasound in childhood was 29.85% and the most common
pathologic finding in childhood pelvic ultrasound was precocious puberty
