Objectives: The coronary artery by-pass graft (CABG), a procedure develloped with low mortality rates or complications, still remain an apropriate treatment for chest pain relief, especially angina, extend aliveness, in especific sets. Thus, investigating quality of life features after surgery arises as a new tool to access outcomes and act upon choices about new treatments and technologies. This survey aims at the perception of quality of life and functionality’s levels of the patients undergone CABG, at about ninetyth day after surgery. Furthermore, it intends to help the suitable decision about time to return to work, specially those one with manual overload. Methods: A field, observational, qualitative, descriptive study was developed using questionnaire tecnic (SF 36) and physic tests. 56 pacients undergone CABG between june and october, 2014, were called. Results: After all the procedures and statistc analyses, it was evidenced that physical, pain, vitallity, mental helth domains showed significant improvement. Othewise, emotional performance and social functining didn’t achieve the goal. Pain restriction at physical test correlated significantly with body pain (B.P.) and emotional restrictions (Role Emotional - R.E.). Conclusions: Hence, an average of ninety days away from work, for restoration after sternotomy, mainly among manual overload workers, seem to be a shot time, specially when they are not included in cardiac rehabilitation programs. Physical activity structions were more restrictive than necessary. The worst performance among the domains of the SF-36 questionnaire was emotional role.
