The clinical profile of patients with psoriasis in a school hospital

Abstract

Introduction: Psoriasis is one of the most common dermatological inflammatory diseases, with an estimated prevalence of 2 to 3%. This disease has a chronic character with manifestations, involving the skin, nails and joints. Objective: To determine the clinical profile of patients with psoriasis (Pso) and psoriatic arthritis (PSO) treated at a psoriasis outpatient clinic in a school hospital. Methods: A case control study conducted in the period from December 2015 to December 2016. It was performed in 144 patients with Pso and / or APso and 24 healthy controls. Results and Conclusions: The study included 144 patients with Pso and / or APso. In the case group the mean age was 50.13 years, BMI of 28.14; duration of illness of 16 years; Mean PASI of 5.34; PEST ratio of 2 and DLQI of 4.39. Of the total 90.3% of the patients presented cutaneous Pso; 39.8% APso already diagnosed and 77.8% with signs of enthesitis to the US. The clinical profile of patients with Pso and / or subclinical and clinical APso were overweight, with a mean age of 50.13 years, with a disease duration of more than 15 years, with controlled disease and treated with topical and methotrexate, with negative rheumatoid factor, with a clinical picture of cutaneous psoriasis and 39.8% had a diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis.
