Author Guidelines

PROCESSING

All submitted material will be analyzed by the journal's Editorial Board, composed of: journal editors, editorial board, associate editors, collaborators, and adjuncts; the identification of authors or the service where the work was developed to the reviewers is prohibited, and reviewers will not be identified by the authors, except when requested by the authors, characterizing peer review in a double-blind model for all article evaluations. Upon receipt, articles will be dated and coded, and their authors will be notified of receipt. Articles that do not meet the editorial standards will be rejected at this stage. Those that comply will be sent to two reviewers indicated by the Editor. Authors will be informed of acceptance and any modifications suggested by the Editorial Board. When modifications are requested, authors must return the corrected work within 15 days, justifying if any suggestion is not accepted.

COPYRIGHT

This is a condition of publication in which authors transfer the copyright of their articles. In this way, the published material becomes the property of the Medical Association of the State of Goiás (AMG-GO), the Goiana Academy of Medicine, and the Faculty of Medicine (UFG), and may be reproduced with their consent. The transfer of copyright to the journal does not affect patent rights or related agreements of the authors. Figures, photos, or tables from other publications may be reproduced, provided they are properly credited.

The journal follows the CC-BY license guidelines: This license allows others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon your work, even for commercial purposes, as long as they give you appropriate credit for the original creation.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

The Editorial Board follows the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and we recommend that authors of submitted articles comply with the ethics committee and fulfill the regulatory and legal requirements for drug experiments on human subjects, including informed consent, in accordance with the procedures required in their institution or country. All patient information must be anonymous; in particular, check that the patient's identification number and name have been removed from photos. AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY

The intellectual content of the works is the sole responsibility of their authors. The Editorial Board assumes no responsibility for the opinions or statements of the authors. Every effort will be made by the Editorial Board to avoid incorrect or inaccurate data. The number of authors should be limited to six.

PRESENTATION

Articles should be double-spaced and should contain the following topics:

Title (Portuguese and English), abstract (Portuguese and English), introduction, methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, and references. Each topic should begin on a new page. Case reports should be structured as follows: abstract, introduction, case report, discussion, conclusion, and references. The first page should include: title, first and last names of the authors and their affiliation, titles (no more than 20 letters), and email address. The second page should contain the manuscript title in the header, and care should be taken in the rest of the text to ensure that the service or authors cannot be identified (suppress them). ABSTRACT

The abstract of the articles should be divided into sections containing information that allows the reader to have a general idea of ​​the article, divided into the following topics: Introduction, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. It should not exceed 250 words and should contain between 3 and 5 keywords, in alphabetical order and separated by semicolons (e.g., Analgesia; Anesthesia; Nerve Block; Acute Pain). Abstracts should be written in a single paragraph. An English version of the abstract and keywords must be provided.

STYLE

Abbreviations should be in capital letters and should not use a period after the letters, e.g., US and not U.S. Statistical analyses should be detailed in the methods section. The use of footnotes will not be permitted, except in tables. The Editorial Board reserves the right to alter manuscripts whenever necessary to adapt them to the bibliographic style of the journal.

LITERATURE CITED

References should be numbered consecutively as they appear in the text and then in figures and tables if necessary, cited in ascending numerals (e.g., 1, 2, 3...) in superscript (e.g., “Recent work on the effect of ultrasound1”). All references should be cited at the end of the article following the information below:

1. et al. is not used. All authors of the article should be cited.

2. Abbreviations in medical journals should follow the format of the National Library of Medicine.

3. Unpublished works, articles in preparation, or personal communications should not be used as references. When absolutely necessary, cite them only in the text.

4. Do not use articles that are difficult or restricted to readers, selecting the most relevant or recent ones.

5. The accuracy of the reference data is the responsibility of the authors.

References should follow the Vancouver style as in the example below:

Amaral WN, Souza MM, Machado NF, Ribeiro PRJ. Repair of fetal myelomeningocele: case report. Rev Goiana Med. 2024 Nov 26;65(66):1-6. For pages consulted online, the access link must be provided. Article titles must be in their original language.

SPECIFIC NOMENCLATURES AND ABBREVIATIONS

Microorganism nomenclatures should be presented in italics. In the first citation in the text, the full name of the genus and species should be written, with the genus beginning with a capital letter and the species with a lowercase letter (e.g., Escherichia coli). In subsequent citations, the genus may be abbreviated by its initial letter followed by a period, while the species name remains in full (e.g., E. coli).

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Addressed to scientific or material contributions from others that do not justify co-authorship. Intended only for original articles.

ILLUSTRATIONS

All illustrations must be identified with the name of the main author and figure number. All illustrations must be cited in the text and numbered according to their appearance (e.g., figure 3).
